Michael Mussman Photography is the culmination of over 30 years of experience in photography. It has been said by Michael’s parents that “he was born with a camera in his hands.” Some of his earliest memories are remembered through pictures he took as a child. It became obvious to Michael that his one true passion was to make beautiful images through photography and he became a professional photographer. Michael studied portrait photography under Master Photographers Russ Clift and Bruce Hudson (www.brucehudson.com). Following his apprenticeship with Russ Clift in 1992, Michael opened his first successful portrait and wedding studio in Bellingham. Years later he moved to the Seattle area.
This world is ever changing and this holds true in the world of photography also. Over the 17 or so years he has been creating images professionally Michael has never stopped learning. Michael looks to other photographers, new and old, to help evolve his style on a continual basis. He has had mentors that have shared with him the wisdom of their experiences and Michael continually works to incorporate their knowledge in with his own.
Michael has a laid-back, capture the moment style of photography. He believes that you don’t capture the essence of who a person is by posing in a studio that does not reflect the personality of the individual. Getting into the environment of the “subject” is the best way to capture the essence. Because of this philosophy, Michael prefers to photograph on location. Whether on the streets of Seattle, a local park, at a client’s home or office, or a favorite hang-out, Michael works to create quality images that will withstand the test of time.
Michael has added Architectural and Real Estate photography to his repertoire. Mentored and trained by John Wilbanks (www.jwphoto.com), one of the best Real Estate photographers in the Northwest, Michael has developed a distinctive and unique style that has him sought after by top selling agents of high end homes in King and Snohomish counties.
